People at Bed & Breakfast Expo

Rick Hawkes

The technical aspects of this Web Site are handled by Rick Hawkes. Rick discovered the world of computers back in 1974 while attending college in Montreal. He has been enthralled with computers ever since and worked as a software professional for over 14 years in Montreal and Kitchener, Ontario.

In the 90's Rick and family moved to Regina to attend Bible College and Seminary, and upon graduation, was called to pastor a church (part-time) in Kamloops. During that time, BBExpo was conceived and born. When the church job finished in 1999, Rick resumed work as a computer professional.

Rick's day job is at ideaLEVER Solutions, Inc in Kamloops.

Significance of the name Bed and Breakfast Expo

One of the favourite experiences of my youth was spending almost all of the summer of 1967 at the world's fair that was held in my home town at the time. This gala event was called Expo 67 and was Canada's gift to the world in celebration of her centennial year.

At this world's fair, scores of countries and other businesses built pavilions that would showcase their particular culture. No expense was spared to ensure that visitors were well informed and entertained as they walked through the exhibits. No two pavilions were alike (except for the theme pavilions as I recall) but all were informative and enjoyable, even for an 11-year-old boy.

There have been other world's fairs since that summer. In Osaka, 1970 and Vancouver, 1986, other Expos took place. Though I could not attend either of those fairs, people I know who attended Expo 86 in Vancouver reported that it was truly a marvelous event. As I think back to my experiences at Expo 67 I must nod in agreement.

It is my desire that this website will be something of an Expo along the lines of the world's fairs that I have mentioned. Each inn listed here is unique. We take great care to ensure that the inns are well described, technically and esthetically.

If you are a guest, you are an honoured guest. Please enjoy your stay here and please let me know if there is anything that I can do to make the Expo more enjoyable. If you are an Innkeeper, I invite you to have a look around and see if you would like to join the Expo.
