Miner’s Rest B&B is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood on the hill above the historic town of Lillooet only a few minutes from shopping, dining and local attractions. Relax on our large deck which is partially covered and take in the spectacular view of the Fraser River, the Valley and the surrounding mountains. Lillooet has a prominent place in the early history of British Columbia, notably in the days of the gold rush of the 1850’s when it had the largest population of any town west of Chicago. The cairn on Lillooet’s main street marks mile 0 on the original gold rush trail and many towns to the north take their names from the mileage from Lillooet, eg.100 Mile House and 70 Mile House. Our B&B name reflects the history of Lillooet as thousands of people stopped at Lillooet to rest as they made their way to find their fortune in the gold fields. Click on some of the links in our Lillooet section and read about some of the amazing history of the gold rush and this area. Plan to stay several days in order to enjoy the many and varied activities offered in this unique area. These are fully detailed in Lillooet section. The 2010 Winter Games Lillooet is a two hour drive from Whister and with accommodation so short for the Games, some people are booking rooms in Lillooet. |

YOUR HOSTS – Bruce and Mary Jaffary

This will be our second year of operating Miner's Rest. We previously operated a B&B in Pemberton for two years and also in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island for seven years. We are B&B consultants and authors of the book, “To B&B or Not To B&B”, a reference for starting and operating B&Bs. We retired from owning a B&B 6 years ago, but we missed the fun of B&B hosting so we opened “The Miners Rest” to meet new travellers and keep our hand in the business. We pride ourselves in offering wonderful breakfasts, quality facilities and great hospitality. We will be pleased to suggest sightseeing options, local activities and dining opportunities or assist you with your travel plans. Although we are landlubbers now, in the past we have had a love affair with the ocean and have spent a great deal of time sailing both locally and one trip from Vancouver to New Zealand. Our official hostess, "Lilou", answering reservation requests.

BREAKFASTWe call our breakfasts ‘heartstarters’ because there’s nothing like a good country breakfast with fresh ground coffee to start your heart in the morning. Our motto is, “If you have to eat lunch after one of our breakfasts, we’re insulted”. We don’t tell you what time breakfast is served, we ask you what time you would like it. It’s usually between 8:00 and 9:00 AM but it’s your choice. Our full country breakfast includes: Juice, a fruit dish or fruit salad, an entree of such tasty treats as Plateau Pancake, Quiches, Omelets, French Toast or Crepes, all served with ham or bacon. There’s also hot toast made from homemade bread with our jam and of course, an endless cup of freshly ground coffee or tea. When available, we serve fresh local produce, honey and sausages. In nice weather we can serve breakfast or coffee on our deck. |
